Hogan for Mayor
After attending council meetings in the 9 towns of the Pascack Valley for a decade, I learned alot about how local governments in New Jersey operate. There is little doubt the Township of Washington has the least efficient and most wasteful government by far. After 10 years of watching residents ignored and insulted, I have decided to run for mayor as an Independent candidate. While 77 signatures are required on a Board of Elections petition, in one week 200 residents were eager to sign. Therefore, I will be on the ballot next November 4, 2009. The Township of Washington is a Faulkner “strong mayor” form of government. Mayors can veto any spending. Therefore, a mayor, on his own initiative, can implement a spending and hiring freeze. Faulkner town mayors cah hire and fire employees without the approval of the council. This allows a mayor to be a “new broom that sweeps clean.” In addition to replacing Dead Wood, I will freeze spending & hiring while combining jobs to lower the budget. The current mayor is a popular alcoholic who refued to resign after a recent drunk driving conviction. Instead he moved to Long Beech Island two hours away. Therefore, the mayor and council are in violation of: NJ title 40A:16-3 “When Office Is Deemed Vacant.” The office of mayor is deemed vacant: C.
